Record Breaking Attempt - Day 01

Here we are! November 13 marks the first day of the BT1000 and it has finally arrived!  Paul and Joy rose at 3.15am and left their house at 4.15am.



Paul and Joy met Garry & Beth, our Support Crew at 4.45am at the Northern Terminus Kalamunda with much anticipation, excitement and hope in their hearts.  Paul's mom and dad, Margaret and Roy Madden also came to say goood bye to their son.


Paul finally set off at 4.55am in the cool of Day 1.  The weather forecast a max of 26oC and min of 7oC.
 

 


Paul arrived at Brookton Highway at 9.15pm, having covered 70km and walked 16 hrs 15 mins at 4.33km/hr.

  1. Saw Paul at first hut on his way through, (we were a small group of scouts /leaders doing one small section overnight) good luck and go well, and remember to put the right date in the log books! Will follow you journey with interest.
