3rd Training - 121 km 2 Days Walk with Joy on Day 1

Joy had taken up on Dr. Sally's offer and decided to walk with Paul this time.  So together with her husband, they started out at 6 am on 12th June from North Banister.

We climbed three major hills and walked about 60 km before we reached Inglehope at 8.30 pm to meet up with Garry after we decided to cut short the walk. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding about the meeting point and we also had no communication with Garry.  We were quick to learn we needed more coverage on our communication system.  So we decided to walk up to the main road a 100m away and walked to Dwellingup where we were supposed to return to the bus.  Joy was already in much pain in her left leg and since we were still unable to contact Garry, we finally decided to call 000 for help.  The police finally came to our great relief and we were graciously transported in the paddy wagon!  Paul took some photos of us in the paddy wagon but we were unable to locate our photos in our camera, and I was told I could take my camera to a photo studio and they may be able to help me retrieve the photos! After this great experience, Joy decided she will do better to be in the support team.  She will now understand if Paul talks about pain and the determination one needs to take to finish an intended walk.

We had company at Harvey Quindanning Road
The next day, Paul was up early and decided he was ready this time to start his 2nd day's walk.  With his back pack fully loaded with all his supplies, he was off again.  Garry, Beth & Joy continued to make preparation to move the bus to our next stop at Harvey Quindanning Road which is another 61 km away.   In the afternoon, we met up with Paul midway and he was keen to finish the rest of the journey. And He did at a time earlier than expected.
It was possible because we learnt it was important for the support team to meet Paul midway on his walk to find out how he was coping.  He sent us messages that he needed emergency help, especially he asked for some good strong hot coffee, which we had quickly prepared in an emergency bag!
